WHAT KIND OF ROOM IS IT?

This activity was a warm-up exercise of a workshop with the assignment of making your dream house. In the beginning cards were given to the children on which different sort of rooms were shown (slaapkamer, keuken, badkamer, woonkamer) and blank cards on which they can draw or write in any language. While showing room models made by artists in response to the assignment of making their dream house (https://www.archdaily.com/797112/small-stories-24-architects-artists-and-designs-model-dream-houses-miniature-nbm), the children were asked to think of what kind of room it is, showing one or more of the cards or drawing on the blank ones. Through this exercise we could reflect on the different kinds of rooms that a house can have and that a room can have more than one function.

The children can also work in groups of two and are encouraged to show and not say out loud what their card choice is so that everyone has enough time to think.
